Light belongs to heaven Photo by Sergio Tapiro Velasco - 2017 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year

Light belongs to heaven Photo by Sergio Tapiro Velasco - 2017 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year: One volcano lightning irradiates from the ashcloud to the sky. On january 26th, 2017, Colima Volcano in Mexico ended its last eruptive episode with this big explosion. I was 7 miles close to the crater and the sky was clear. I heard a big boom and then a jet-like noise. Hot lava rockfalls flyed away; from the ashcloud merged one lightning created by ash particles friction. It was a glorious moment, not a composite. Technically, capturing volcano eruptions with 3' shutter speed is very risky.

Cities on volcanoes 7, Colima, Mexico

Cities on volcanoes will have the intention of integrating groups of geoscientists, the general public, and persons involved with all aspects of risk evaluation and mitigation. We hope to promote interaction as much as possible.

One of Cities on volcanoes 7 events is this photographic exhibition named In front of Volcano, with at least 40 images of Volcano of Colima between years 2002 and 2012.

I'm the author of the images, and will be honored with your presence on Pinacoteca Universitaria in the city of Colima.
